Hello everybody!

YES! Tomorrow it's movie night at Stanford. Well, actually it's Season night (or something like that). We will continue watching Vientos de Agua (Winds of Water). This time it's Chapters 5 and 6 (almost reaching half of it!).

I would like to thank everyone that kindly and spontaneously brought something to share with others. it was so nice to see how many decided to just bring something big or small to either eat or drink. Feel free to do it again! =)

THURSDAY MAY 22nd - MOVIE NIGHT!

Tomorrow we are continuing with our film space with something new. We will begin a 13 chapters saga called: "Vientos de Agua" / "Winds of Water". We will start with the first two chapters (40min each).

Winds of water is the moving saga of Olaya family, through the history of the 20th century. Two stories, two eras, two places... the same emotion. It reflects the phenomenon of mass immigration of Europeans to Argentina in the early part of the century, as well as the arrival of immigrants to Spain from around the world. An exciting story, an internationally recognized director (Juan Jose Campanella) and a group of stars headed by Eduardo Blanco, Hector and Enersto Alterio, gather all together to materialize "The great epic Argentina".

As usual we'll be having free popcorn. Feel free to bring something to drink with you. Please help us clean the classroom after we are all done.

TOMORROW - THURSDAY MAY 8TH - Movie Night!

Hi everybody! I am sorry for this late announcement, but I had really busy days and I couldn't find a moment to just sit down and send this email.

There are 3 major announcements I need to make. Don't worry, everything is ok.

1) TOMORROW we are having MOVIE NIGHT. Yes! We'll enjoy seeing "Nueve Reinas" or "9 queens=" according to imdb. But for those of you who have seen a Hollywood version of it, let me tell you that we'll be the ORIGINAL movie... the one that made Fox want it to buy it.

I will post the summary below the announcements.

2) NEW LOCATION!!! This is truly important. We have a new classroom assigned in a new building, but in the same main quad.

BUILDING 200 (Lane History Corner, 450 Serra Mall, Bldg. 200)
ROOM 105 on the First Floor (of course).

3) On Thursday May 22nd we are going to start with something NEW! We'll start to watch the first two episodes of a 14 chapter series called: "Vientos de Agua". It tells two stories of how Spanish people in 1934 were fleding to Argentina and how Argentinean people in 2001 were trying to emigrate to Spain. More information will be coming soon. And hopefully we'll get to watch the series every thursday instead of every two thursdays starting on May 22nd.

Nueve Reinas (A con movie).
Nine Queens is a film of scams, and as such is quite unpredictable. After passing the first minutes of the film you realize that something is not really as it seems, that there is a part of the scam are not looking for as we know it is there ... and that's what this guy makes great movies.

Hello everybody! This Thursday we are having a new movie.

Did you like the movie "The secret in their eyes" (El secreto de sus ojos)? Well this Thursday we are showing a movie that came out 10 years before! With the same director Juan Jose Campanella, same main stars Ricardo Darin and Soledad Villamil: "SAME LOVE, SAME RAIN" / "EL MISMO AMOR, LA MISMA LLUVIA".

It tells the story of George and Laura Pellegrini Ramallo along nearly two decades, beginning in 1980. Tells the initial romance, subsequent disagreements, triumphs, defeats and their final reunion as a backdrop to the events in Argentina's history of those years. Excellent film!!!

ESTE JUEVES HAY PELICULA / THURSDAY NIGHT... MOVIE NIGHT!!!

YES!!! This Thursday March 27th a NEW MOVIE will be showing at CineStanford.

We have chosen a movie called: LUNA DE AVELLANEDA (MOON OF AVELLANEDA).

Luna de Avellaneda is an Argentine film directed by Juan José Campanella and starring Ricardo Darin. Luna de Avellaneda is a typical neighborhood social club which had a golden age past but today is immersed in a economical crisis that threatens its existence. Its members have to debate what will be of their club. Very different opinions raise some of which are further away from the ideals and aims of its founders in the 1940s: a social, sports and cultural club. The dispute on the future of the club is translated on the life of its members who realize that it is their lifes who are in actual jeopardy. Luna de Avellaneda is a movie to laugh, cry and laugh again. It helps one to remember how human we all are and how important are some (apparently) small and forgotten values. A film worth to watch.

NEWS AND APPOINTMENT REMINDER

Hello everybody!

I would like to thank each and everyone who was present last week for our (re)opening night. We counted 22 people and I think we all had a great time.

I heard that many people decided not to come because they had already seen last week's movie. Too bad, but fair enough... this has remedy.

SOME IMPORTANT NEWS!
1) CineStanford will be showing a NEW movie ONLY TWO THURSDAYS A MONTH. This means, that since we showed a movie last Thursday, next projection will take place on THURSDAY MARCH 27th... that also means that TODAY there will be NO MOVIE!

2) A new Facebook page will be opening soon. This will help to listen and follow your comments, suggestions and ideas, and also to expand our contact list through your contacts. The blogsopt will be continued and will remain the main source of information. The FB page will halp to improve communication together with the blogspot.

3) Each thursday a suggestion box will be available for ideas, comments, etc.

4) We will be broadening our film spectra to series and short-movies.

5) A whole new series of films will be held from next Thursday onwards.

6) We are working to have available food back... work in progress

El jueves 13 de Marzo la cita obligada se llama CineStanford. Retomamos el ciclo de cine de habla hispana con el muy aclamado film EL METODO. Una película genial y un gran ejemplo de colaboración entre España y Argentina.
