Finally, we are back baby!... but not just yet. =)

We are re-opening CineStanford weekly movie night starting NEXT WEEK... yes, not this week, but NEXT WEEK.

And... we'll be moving from Thursdays to TUESDAYS... luckily we get to keep the same Room (at least something didn't change!).

So, starting from TUESDAY OCTOBER 7th, at 7.30pm we''ll be having weekly movies.

CANCELLED!!! tonigh't movie is cancelled

Hi all,

I am really sorry to say that tonight's movie is cancelled. I just got the word that Stanford is doing maintenance on almost all Rooms on the main quad starting today and for the next two weeks.

So I will have to cancel tonight's show and postpone it.

According to the schedule we should be able to continue on the week of September 22nd.

Please help me pass the word to everyone you know might come tonight.

THURSDAY NIGHT: "No llegues hasta acá" ('Do not come down here') - Sept4th 7.30pm

Hello everyone! This week we will be trying something new. We will be watching a documentary/film titled: "No llegues hasta acá" ('Do not come down here'). 

This bright documentary, based on true testimonies, tells a fiction story delivering many of the reasons that might lead many youngsters to commit felonies, as well as the reasons which can lead them to abandon such behavior. The film will take us into the prisons of Mendoza (Argentina) showing the crude reality of the life and people inside these. The aim of this production is to help us and our generation of young adolescents, to realize which decisions, situations and social environment might result decisive in our lives, as with knowledge and education it is possible (if not the only way) to build a better prospective society. 

This production was entirely done in Mendoza, Argentina. After the film, we will be having a period to share and have an open debate. We will discuss how this might have an impact on the social environment each of us has grown up and among other interesting triggering questions.

CineStanford will like to thanks Daniel A. Caselles (aka Dani) for bringing this proposal and film. Dani will be conducting us through some questions.

TONIGHT: "El viento" ('The wind') - Sept4th 7.30pm

What a week! But as usual, tonight we will be having a movie night, to help us relax, meet with friends, think about other stuff and surf into the world of fantasy. 

The film tells of Frank Osorio (Federico Luppi) and his granddaughter Alina (Antonella Costa). After the funeral of Frank's daughter Ema, he decides to travel for the very first time to Buenos Aires to tell about her mother's death. The movie interwinds around Frank and Alina's relationship. Frank has to big secrets: the first one is about Alina's unknown father and the second one is related to a crime.... chan!!!

THURSDAY 28th... MOVIE NIGHT!

After last week's success we will follow with another hit but from a very different genre, titled: Conversaciones con Mamá ('Conversations with Mom') starring Eduardo Blanco and China Zorrilla.

The film tells of Jaime (Eduardo Blanco) who has lost his job and has to provide for his wife, son and daughter. Pressured by this circumstances, he visits his mom, who lives in an apartment he owns with intentions to ask her to move out and with him so that he can sell the apartment. But things won't turn out to be so easy when to Jaime's surprise, she also has a boyfriend!!!

TOMORROW NIGHT... MOVIE NIGHT!... Tiempo de Valientes!!!

Hello y'all!

After a short brake we are back with Thursday's movie night, starting tomorrow night. We will be enjoying a fantastic and funny movie: Tiempo de Valientes ('On Probation').

Tiempo de valientes (English: On Probation) is a 2005 Argentine comedy film written and directed by Damián Szifrón. 

The film tells of Alfredo Díaz (Luis Luque) is a burly seen-it-all cop who falls in depression after discovering that his wife has been cheating on him. Mariano Silverstein (Diego Peretti) is a skinny Jewish shrink/psychologist forced to work with the police doing community work, who has the task of helping Alfredo to deal with his problems.

When Alfredo is invited to dinner to Silverstein's home, everything turns head-over-feet! This unthought coupled is drawn to solve not only personal issues on their lives but also to unravel a conspiracy of national proportions, finding themselves in a stew of murder, arms dealers and corrupt cops, and only their new friendship will get them out alive.

The picture is a hilarious buddy-cop adventure and FYI a collaboration with Fox films.

First of all, I would like to thank for all the people that joined us last week! I counted 25!!! Sweet! We had a Full House!

It looks like everybody enjoyed the first two chapters of "Vientos de Agua" ("Winds of Water").
