Documental "Fala Tu, Lives of Rhyme" (2003)

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites you to:

Fala Tu, Lives of Rhyme
A film by Guilherme Coelho with a conversation with the director
When: Friday 13 at 6:00pm
Where: Pigott Hall, Building 260, Room 113

"The documentary Fala Tu tells the life stories of three little-known
rappers from the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. The film captures how rap
has affected their lives and how their own experiences have shaped the
way they write and sing. Fala Tu accompanies these three characters
across Rio, in their workplace, into makeshift studios, pirate radio
stations, religious ceremonies, family gatherings, and most
importantly, into their own homes. The daily routines and unexpected
dramas captured during production comprise the greater part of the film
while rap has an equally important but smaller role. Official Selection
Berlin Film Festival. Awarded Best Director and Best Documentary at Rio
International Film Festival."
